Yuva – Peppy music at its best
I am a great fan of AR Rahman since I heard him first in
Roja. It swept me off the floor. I was used to hearing Ilayaraja and this guy
was a big surprise for me. Not that I was the only one following Ilayaraja.
Well the whole of south India was only listening to him till then.
Roja, Kadalan, Gentleman, Thiruda Thiruda one after another.
Rahman was taking the Indian music industry by storm. No wonder he was
nicknamed Musical Storm in Tamil Nadu.Such was his craze.
Copies of his album would get sold in record time in Music
World. There were be hundreds waiting for the new copies.
Though I have heard many memorable album of his the one
closest to my heart is Yuva. Yuva means youth. So was the music of the film. It
was so youthful and full of energy. Each and every song was different and
peppy.
"Dhakka Laga Bukka" is a beautiful song. It is
kind of an enthusiastic song encouraging the youth of the nation to move ahead
and bring the revolution. The music is fast and has got some great beats. Sung
by AR Rahman himself along with Karthik and Mehboob this song is a great start to
the album. His voice adds a lot of flavor to this song.
"Khuda Hafiz" is a beautiful romantic soft song.
It starts slowly with a whispering female voice and then suddenly jumps into a
different level at the end of the first few lines. A great treat to the ears.
"Kabhi Neem Neem" is a typical AR Rahman song.
After listening to the song you feel that no one else could have done justice
to this song apart from AR Rahman. His voice is so peculiar. The alaap in the
middle of the song is amazing. This is one song you can hear with your eyes
closed and go into a deep sleep. A happy mood song.
"Dol Dol" is a fast peppy song featuring Blaaze
the hip hop singer. A true peppy song. If the previous song put you to sleep
this one will wake you up.
"Baadal" is a romantic song. A different kind of
song with some great lyrics as well. Adnan Sami at his best. There is a lovely
cuddle in his voice which makes this song a treat to ears.
"Fanaa" is another peppy number. If you would have
seen the picturisation of the song you would know how aptly the music fits with
the visualization. My favourite in this album and I guess a favourite to many
others as well. This was in all music channels for quite some time when it
released.
If you have not heard it till now, go ahead and listen to
this amazing album.
