Fantastico experience in Shimla

Shimla is a one of the most beautiful places I have seen in India. The serene beauty of the place is beyond imagination.

It’s located in the Norther part of India. It’s the capital city of the state Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the top rated hill stations in India. Tourism flourishes throughout the year in this place.

It has so many things that can thrill anyone right from a nature lover to an adventure lover. It has got great snow clad mountain views, thick forest trails, great apples, river rafting, high altitude plains, beautiful temples etc.

I started my trip to Shimla from Chandigarh in the state transport bus. It took a few hours to reach Shimla bus stand. From there my Hotel as just a walking distance. It was not a big hotel but a pretty decent one. The rooms were neatly maintained. We rested for a few hours in the room and then took a warm bath before venturing out. We had booked a taxi for a day tour. He first took as to a temple. It was an Idumbi Temple, mother of Gadotkaja (son of Bhīma, one of the Pandavas in Mahabharata). IT was a nice place among thick woods. There were huge white rabbits which you could hold in your hand and take a photograph. The locals make a living out of these rabbits by charging rupees ten for a photograph. There are also horse rides available.

We then moved to a horse trail. I must say the trail for pretty adventurous. The horse owner just comes along the horse telling stories about the place. Apparently this guy who was coming along with me knew 10 languages. He could even speak in my mother tongue Tamil which surprised me a lot. Then we reached the spot from where you have a telescopic view of China border. This was the place where many film shootings take place. The very famous song of Rajesh Khanna from Aradhana was shot here it seems. You get some nice saffrons in this place.

Then we had some nice lunch in one of Dhaba’s. The parathas with butter were mouthwatering and very delicious. A big glass of Lassi and I felt like sleeping. But I had to move one for the next trip. Then we spent the afternoon in a small Zoo. Not a lot of wild life but you can see some beautiful deers and peacocks.

Then we moved to a place called Chail which has the highest cricket ground in the world. Nearby is a king’s palace. Some amazing views from here. After spending some quality time there we moved back to our room. After resting for an hour or two we ventured the Shimla market. We purchased some shawls. Ate hot corns and then finally dinner at our hotel room. A day spent really well.

Shimla is a one place where I would want to come back again and again. A fantastic experience indeed.
