Cricket Team India Fails Again in Australia

I am writing this as a frustrated Indian Cricket Fan once again. Though Cricket India has given me great things to Cherish like World Cup Victory, Sachin Tendulkar, the dashing Virendra Sehwag, the aggressive Virat Kohli but it fails me time to time with its overseas performance.

Every tour we build a expectation in our mind that this set of players will do well in Australia this time. Whether people accept it or not the tour down under is the most important tour. Australia has been dominating Test Cricket for more than two decades now. Test Cricket is the real test of character. A 50 over game normally gets decided with one great innings or one great spell but a test match is decided session after session.

This time also we believed the team under Dhoni/ Kohli combination can break those shackles but it wasn't to be. Some experts say that this is a good team only on paper. Well the stats say otherwise. These are some serious good players but major part of it has come in sub continent conditions. You can't blame the players for that. They have been made to play a lot of one day and T20 cricket at home. On top of all that are these IPL and champions league.

Many say that these players after playing some much of one day cricket have lost the art of leaving good balls alone in Test Cricket which results in their undoing. But I beg to differ here.

Even Australian players play a lot of One day and Test Cricket but why do they not fail in Test Cricket. To some extent it is the mind setting. Over past two decades they have been a successful team and they believe that they can beat any side anywhere. That is the reason why they could beat us in a Test series in India but we are not able to do so. There is a in built scare built in players mind about bounce and pace. The same which they are able to counter in One day cricket seems to give them a problem in Test Cricket. Another argument of lack of good pace attack comes to my mind. Well we need to accept that Pakistan has a better pace attack than us but even they are not able to win a series in Australia.

So I guess it is a combination of application and mindset that will win us series in Australia. There is no lack of talent here in India. Lets hope we will find this balance soon.
