Journey from ‘OR’ to ‘AND’

This post is a part of #UseYourAnd activity at BlogAdda in association with Gillette Venus

Through all these years of growing up I have heard and read about great women. They were part of my history books, my newspaper reads, my discussions and my dreams. Rani Laxmi Bhai, Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa, PT Usha, Kiran Bedi and so on. These women would inspire in one way or the other. They teach us so many things in life from standing for your country, rights to standing up for your passion.

Recently one woman who added up to that list was Boxer Mary Kom. It is tough to imagine to woman fighting all odds like family background, educational priorities, and financial pressure to come out as such a successful boxer. It shows that apart from being physically strong you need to mentally strong as well. In a country where Cricket always takes the first bench and other sports are not given a great priority, to succeed and make people look up to you as sporting person is a huge achievement on its own and a big thanks to her for all that.

Even though she got a great better half looking after her 3 kids, the sheer physical challenge of competing at the world level after three kids in itself speaks a lot about this person. Winning for the first time is a great thing. But to do it again and again at the international level is really a great thing and requires great commitment.

Wow, what a woman. It could have easily been a choice to retire and take care of kids which people would not have complained about, but rather chose to live up to her dreams and passion. Hats Off to a great woman who has set an example not only for woman but also for men.
